जल की मिठास

                 
        एक शिष्य अपने गुरु से सप्ताह भर की छुट्टी लेकर अपने गांव जा रहा था। तब गांव पैदल ही जाना पड़ता था। जाते समय रास्ते में उसे एक कुआं दिखाई दिया। शिष्य प्यासा था, इसलिए उसने कुएं से पानी निकाला और अपना गला तर किया। शिष्य को अद्भुत तृप्ति मिली, क्योंकि कुएं का जल बेहद मीठा और ठंडा था।

 शिष्य ने सोचा - क्यों ना यहां का जल गुरुजी के लिए भी ले चलूं। उसने अपनी मशक भरी और वापस आश्रम की ओर चल पड़ा। वह आश्रम पहुंचा और गुरुजी को सारी बात बताई। गुरुजी ने शिष्य से मशक लेकर जल पिया और संतुष्टि महसूस की। उन्होंने शिष्य से कहा- वाकई जल तो गंगाजल के समान है। शिष्य को खुशी हुई। गुरुजी से इस तरह की प्रशंसा सुनकर शिष्य आज्ञा लेकर अपने गांव चला गया।

           कुछ ही देर में आश्रम में रहने वाला एक दूसरा शिष्य गुरुजी के पास पहुंचा और उसने भी वह जल पीने की इच्छा जताई। गुरुजी ने मशक शिष्य को दी। शिष्य ने जैसे ही घूंट भरा, उसने पानी बाहर कुल्ला कर दिया। शिष्य बोला- गुरुजी इस पानी में तो कड़वापन है और न ही यह जल शीतल है। आपने बेकार ही उस शिष्य की इतनी प्रशंसा की। गुरुजी बोले- बेटा, मिठास और शीतलता इस जल में नहीं है तो क्या हुआ। इसे लाने वाले के मन में तो है। जब उस शिष्य ने जल पिया होगा तो उसके मन में मेरे लिए प्रेम उमड़ा। यही बात महत्वपूर्ण है। मुझे भी इस मशक का जल तुम्हारी तरह ठीक नहीं लगा। पर मैं यह कहकर उसका मन दुखी करना नहीं चाहता था। हो सकता है जब जल मशक में भरा गया, तब वह शीतल हो और मशक के साफ न होने पर यहां तक आते-आते यह जल वैसा नहीं रहा, पर इससे लाने वाले के मन का प्रेम तो कम नहीं होता है ना।

कहानी की सीख -

 दूसरों के मन को दुखी करने वाली बातों को टाला जा सकता है और हर बुराई में अच्छाई खोजी जा सकती है।

The disciple was thirsty, so he drew water from the well and soaked his throat. The disciple was wonderfully satisfied, for the water of the well was extremely sweet and cold.

          Soon another disciple living in the ashram approached Guruji and he too expressed his desire to drink that water. Guruji gave the mask to the disciple. As soon as the disciple took a sip, he rinsed out the water. The disciple said- Guruji, there is bitterness in this water and this water is not soft. You praised that disciple so much in vain. Guruji said- Son, sweetness and coolness are not in this water so what happened. It is in the mind of the one who brought it. When that disciple must have drunk water, love for me overflowed in his mind. That is the important thing. I also did not like the water of this musk like you. But I did not want to upset him. Maybe when the water is filled in the jug, then it is soft and when the jug is not clean, this water does not stay the same, but it does not diminish the love of the person who brought it.
