              बहुत से लोग कहते हैं कि हम कर्मों के अधीन है, कुछ कहते हैं कि हम भाग्य के अधिन है और अधिकतर मानते हैं कि ईश्‍वर की इच्‍छा के बैगेर कुछ भी नहीं होता है। हम ईश्वर के बंधन में हैं। मतलब यह कि हम स्वतंत्र नहीं है। कर्म, भाग्य, नियति और ईश्वर से हम बंधे हुए हैं। यह बात सही है या गलत इस एक कहानी से समझें। 

 एक व्यक्ति ने महात्मा से पूछा- क्या मनुष्य स्वतंत्र है? भाग्य, कर्म, नियतिआदि क्या है? क्या ईश्वर ने हमें किसी बंधन में रखा है? महात्मा ने उस व्यक्ति से कहा- खड़े हो जाओ। यह सुनकर उस व्यक्ति को बहुत अजीब लगा फिर भी वह खड़ा हो गया।महात्मा ने कहा- अब अपना एक पैर ऊपर उठा लो। महात्मा का बड़ा यश था।उनकी बात न मानना उनका अनादर होतइसलिए उसने अपना एक पैर ऊपर उठा लिया। अब

वह सिर्फ एक पैर के बल खड़ा था। फिर महात्मा ने कहा- बहुत बढ़िया। अब एक छोटासा काम और करो। अपना दूसरा पैर भी ऊपर उठा लो। व्यक्ति बोला- यह तो असंभव है। मैंने अपना दायां पैर ऊपर उठाया था। अब मैं अपना बायां पैर नहीं उठा सकता।

   महात्मा ने कहा- लेकिन तुम पूर्णतः स्वतन्त्र हो। तुम पहली बार अपना बायां पैर भी उठा सकते थे। ऐसा कोई बंधन नहीं था कि तुम्हें दायां पैर ही उठाना था। मैंने तुम्हें ऐसा कोई निर्देश नहीं दिया कि तुम दायां पैर उठाओ या बायां। तुमने ही निर्णय लिया और अपना दायां पैर उठाया। अब तुम स्वतंत्रता, भाग्य और ईश्वर की चिंता करना छोड़ो और मामूली चीजों पर अपना ध्यान लगाओगे तो समझ में आ जाएगा।

इस कहानी से हमे यह शिक्षा मिलती है कि जीवन में हमारा निर्णय ही सबसे महत्वपूर्ण होता है। हमारे निर्णय ही हमारा आगे का जीवन संचालित करते हैं। ईश्‍वर ने तो हमें पूर्ण स्वतंत्रता दी है अब आपको ही तय करना है कि आप कैसे जीवन चाहते हैं।

Many people say that we are subject to actions, some say that we are subordinate to destiny and most believe that nothing happens without the will of God. We are in the bond of God. This means that we are not independent. We are tied to karma, fate, destiny and God. Understand this is true or false with this one story.

A person asked the Mahatma - Is man free? What is fate, karma, destiny etc. Does God have us in abind? Mahatma said to that person- Stand up. Hearing this, theperson felt very strange, yet he stood up  Mahatma said- Now lift one leg up. Mahatma had great fame. He would disrespect her, so he lifted one of his legs up. Now he was standing on just one leg. Then the Mahatma said - very good. Now do a little more work. Raise your other leg up as well. The person said - this is impossible. I had raised my right leg. I can no longer lift my left leg.

      The Mahatma said- but you are completely free. You could also lift your left leg for the first time. There was no bondage that you had to lift your right leg. I did not instruct you to raise your right leg or your left. You made the decision and raised your right leg. Now you will stop worrying about freedom, destiny and God and focus on the trivial things then it will make sense.

This story teaches us that our decision is the most important thing in life. It is our decisions that drive our future. God has given us complete freedom, now you have to decide how you want life.
